Re-thinking Teacher Professional Education: Using Research Findings for Better Learning
Masaryk University, Faculty of Arts, Department of Educational Sciences
Brno, Czech Republic
ICET and Masaryk University invite educational researchers, practitioners and policy makers to submit proposals for the International Council on Education for Teaching 61st World Assembly 2017. The assembly welcomes 200 scholars each year, representing views and research traditions from all parts of the world. Submission is open to ICET members and non-members. Submissions are accepted online only, at www.icet2017.org. To allow for as many voices as possible, participants may make no more than two presentations.
Proposals are of two types: refereed and non-refereed. Refereed proposals may include individual and / or multiple authored papers and symposia. Accepted refereed papers will be included in conference proceedings. Non-refereed proposals may consist of a paper, symposium, or workshop.
TYPES OF SESSIONS
Multiple-paper sessions are intended to report summaries of ongoing or final research results, to provide a brief analysis of issues of policy and practice, or to report an initiative in teacher education. There will be 3 paper presentations for each parallel session. Each presenter will be given 20 minutes of presentation time with 10 minutes for Q & A per session.
Symposium provides an opportunity to examine specific research issues, problems, or topics from a variety of perspectives. Symposium organizers should solicit proposals and submit them together, along with the name of a symposium chairperson. Session organizers are expected to chair the session and to facilitate discussion. The proposal should include the purpose and the rationale of the session, a description of each presentation and a statement regarding audience involvement. Symposia may also use a panel discussion format.
Workshops are intended to be interactive sessions where researchers, practitioners or policymakers present a theme allowing adequate time for reflective discussion and interaction. Learning-by-doing occupies most of the session, and any presentations are brief. The proposal should include the purpose and the rationale of the session, a description of the presentation, and a statement regarding audience involvement.
The full first draft of the paper (no longer than 6000 words), together with a 150-word summary of the paper, should be submitted via www.icet2017.org. The 150-word summary will be included in the conference program. All feedback from the refereeing process will be returned to submitters to enable the paper to be finalized for the conference proceedings. If a refereed paper is accepted for the program but then does not pass the reviewing process, it is still eligible for placement in the program as a non-refereed paper.
Refereed papers will be published in a peer reviewed online conference proceedings, the ICET 2017 Yearbook.
The paper should include as many of the following as are applicable
Criteria for Acceptance of Refereed Proposals
The proposal summary of up to 1000 words (excluding the references) should be submitted by via www.icet2017.org. A 150-word summary of the paper should also be submitted for inclusion in the conference program.
The summary should address as many of the following as are applicable
Criteria for Acceptance of Non-Refereed Proposals
A symposium or panel discussion provides opportunities not afforded in a single paper to examine a specific problem or topic from a variety of perspectives, engage in intensive discussion, or draw on a wide range of experiences. The proposal should provide a summary of up to 2,000 words (excluding references), together with a 150-word summary of the paper should be submitted via www.icet2017.org. The 150-word summary of the paper will be included in the program booklet. Symposium sessions are not refereed.
